How to understand public aid? All competitions under co-financing programs contain provisions and regulations regarding various types of public aid. These provisions may regulate, among other things, the types, amounts and conditions for obtaining aid under a given competition. From the perspective of an entrepreneur using or planning to use European funds, it is important to know what forms of public aid exist, when they can be used and what public aid in EU projects involves. Categories of public aid State aid can come in many different forms.
In projects co-financed by European Funds, it most often takes the form of regional aid, horizontal aid or de minimis aid (the latter is a special type of public support and requires separate discussion; we will write more about its specific nature in a separate article). It is granted to support the development of the least developed regions, mainly by supporting investments and creating new jobs. Regional investment aid may concern voivodeships and smaller administrative units that are less developed or have a higher unemployment rate. The basis for determining the intensity of support is the regional aid map.
